DCI raised the roof for One Eight Distilling; a flourishing distillery in the heart of Ivy City district in NE Washington, DC. The owner wanted to create a new stilling room, the existing facility could not support the tall new stilling columns. The solution was to take over an existing loading dock, remove and raise the roof with a steel superstructure and translucent panels to allow for daylight. On the exterior, we introduced a glass storefront with a counter high glass overhead door offering passersby’s a view of the stilling room, and also seasonal outside seating for tastings. On the interior, we created glazing and sightlines from the tasting bar to the new stilling house for a unique experience for events in the tasting room.
