The Kiplinger Building at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is a 200 year old farmhouse that was converted into an office building. Parts of the building were in disrepair, it was not wheelchair accessible, and the school was in need of extra space for their administrative functions. DCI designed a new 2-story addition and converted the existing spaces to make them ADA compliant.
In order to lessen the time staff and the school community would be disrupted by construction, the addition was designedas off-site construction. It will be built in a controled environment in Pennsylvania, and then delivered and installed at the campus over one week in the summer. This will greatly reduce the amount of time the building is offline during the school year. The new addition will maintain the existing historic aesthetic, while adding critical modern functionality.
